TLAs and Other Semantic Obfuscations

So you consider yourself to be a reasonably bright person - you can hold your own in most conversations, and the utterings of the erudite don't immediately send you screaming for the thesaurus.

Then you drop in on an HDTV seminar - and you find the air so thick with acronyms, abbreviations, and code words that you begin to think they're reading the raw contents of a transport stream after coding the Manhatten Yellow Pages.

Fear not - help is at hand! While I'm sure I'll never find them all (send me your favorites if you find any missing!), just follow the alphabetical links to the TLA (hint: look under "T") that is perplexing you and we'll try to help!

You'll notice that I'm merely providing the full word expansion of the TLAs in question - which may be no more enlightening than the original. However, I must leave it to folks with much more time on their hands to provide us with full glossaries and definitions! In the meantime, here is a link to lists of books, web sites, etc. that may be useful in your quest.

CineSys Resources

If you should catch me in an error (and Lord knows there must be some in there) please drop me a line so I can fix it! This is meant to be a community service - which it will be only if it is correct. Please limit your suggestions to video industry-related terms: I have no desire to make this the comprehensive online center for all TLAs!
